Job Description

The Rule Developer position is a multi-faceted role that includes design, development, unit-testing and implementing medical coding rules using both healthcare domain knowledge and programming skills. Responsibilities include maintaining existing medical rules, programming new rule logic and providing support for customer escalation. The Rule Developer will work in a fast-paced team environment, but must be able to work both independently and as a team member. The candidate also must be capable of multi-tasking plus managing and working on several projects simultaneously.

Experience and qualifications:  

  1. Computer Programming and database background.
  2. Hands on experience with C/C++ or C# or Java through course work or projects.
  3. Knowledge of the software development cycle.
  4. Extensive use of Data structures and algorithms.
  5. Experience with Database development - SQL server, Access Database.
  6. Understand database normalization, know how to write SQL statements.
  7. Exposure to CPT/ICD or medical coding terminology preferred.

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field with school or work experience in programming and database. The candidate must be a quick learner and willing to learn new technology. The candidate will be trained on programming medical coding rules.
